Day 1 - Bangkok to Chiang Mai ( -/-/- )
Late afternoon transfer to the railway station for the overnight train to Chiang Mai.
Day 2 - Chiang Mai ( -/L/- )
Arrive Chiang Mai early in the morning and transfer to hotel. After a short rest, transfer to the cooking school, about 15 minutes outside of Chiang Mai. The first day of the course will be devoted to an introduction to the main ingredients used in Thai cuisine, their uses, storage and suitable alternatives. The use of these ingredients will then be demonstrated, with the assistance of the participants, in preparing a typical Thai lunch. Afterwards there will be an opportunity to try a selection of Thai fruits and snacks. Transfer back to the hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 3 - Chiang Mai ( B/L/- )
After breakfast transfer to the cooking school. On the second day of the course learn to make some of the pastes, using a mortar and pestle, which are so essential to Thai cooking. These pastes will then be used in preparing some of the country's most popular dishes for lunch. After lunch take a tour around the school’s herb and spice garden followed by a demonstration of two more dishes, either desserts or snacks. Transfer back to the hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 4 - Chiang Mai ( B/L/- )
After breakfast go shopping in a local market to experience selecting and purchasing the necessary ingredients for a full meal. Transfer to the cooking school. With guidance, prepare the ingredients and cook a meal of four classic dishes ready for lunch. Prepare two final dishes in the afternoon, either desserts or snacks, to be served with Thai fruits. Transfer back to the hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 5 - Chiang Mai ( B/-/- )
Termination of the tour after breakfast.
