Day 1, Chiang Khong to Houixay to Nam Tha (-/-/-)
Meet your guide at Houixay border and transfer to Luang Nam Tha. Visit the caves in Vieng Phou Kha and a Khmu ethnic minority village en-route.
Day 2, Nam Tha to Trekking to Muang Sing (Trekking: 5 hrs) (B/-/-)
Embark on a full-day trek close to the Nam Ha Protected Area. Trek through rice fields, beautiful forests and visit different ethnic minority villages. After trekking, transfer to Muang Sing.
Day 3, Muang Sing and Trekking (B/-/-)
Early morning visit to Muang Sing market where ethnic minorities come from the surrounding valleys and hills to sell their goods and buy provisions. Then take a short drive to Alima, a small town close to the border with China. Take a half-day trek through the mountain to visit the tribal villages of the Yao, Ikor, Lenetene and Tai Lu peoples.
Day 4, Muang Sing to Oudomxay (B/-/-)
Travel by road to Luang Nam Tha and Oudomxay. En-route, visit the Chiang Tung stupa, the Ikor village at Ban Kolakkham Mai and the mixed village of Hmong and Khmu.
Day 5, Oudomxay to Boun Tai (B/-/-)
Take a tour of the local market which attracts many ethnic minority groups such as Ikor, Taidam Khmu and Hmong. Then take a trip along the Nam Phak River to Muang La, well known for the Pra Seng Kham Temple and beautiful mountain scenery. Visit an Ikor village at Ban Pi Cheu Mai.
Day 6, Boun Tai to Ban Yo - Phongsali (B/-/-)
The journey continues further into northern Laos where the next stop is Phongsali. Take your chance to learn about the bee-breeding industry and the distillation of Laos whisky. On arrival in Phongsali, walk up 413 steps to the top of the Mont Phou Fa for an incredible view of the surrounding area.
Day 7, Phongsali to Hatsa to Muang Khoa to Nong Khiaw (B/-/-)
Transfer to Ban Hatsa Pier and cruise down the Nam Ou River in a traditional boat to Nong Khiaw where the environment and local culture are well preserved.
Day 8, Nong Khiaw to Luang Prabang (B/-/-)
Continue the cruise on the Nam Ou River to Luang Prabang. Visit villages along the way and the holy caves of Pak Ou.
Day 9, Luang Prabang (B/-/-)
Enjoy a city tour to visit Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Mai, Wat Visou and Wat Phoutthabat. Relax in the evening with a sunset view of the city from Mount Phousi and enjoy the lively night market.
Day 10, Luang Prabang to Vientiane (B/-/-)
Visit the National Museum, housed in the former royal palace and displaying a collection of many fascinating ancient artefacts, before a flight to Vientiane. After arrival, visit the Buddha Park, a strange blend of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures located by the Mekong River.
Day 11, Vientiane (B/-/-)
Take a city tour to see Wat Sisaket and Wat Prakeo, the former royal temples, That Luang stupa and a national symbol of Laos and Patouxai, Laos’ triumphal arch. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the local market and enjoy this very peaceful city.
Day 12, Vientiane (B/-/-)
A day at leisure until a transfer to the airport for a flight to your next destination.
