Angkor and Cardamom Mountain Biking
Departure day : Daily

Applicable for : A group of minimum 2 persons.
Itinerary : Angkor and Cardamom Mountain Biking is a trip designed for all those who want to combine the splendour of Angkor and bustling Phnom Penh with exploring the Cambodian countryside by bike‚ boat and on foot. This will be nine days of extraordinarily varied memories.
 
 

Day 1,  Arrive in Siem Reap  (-/-/-)  

Upon arrival at the airport, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. Begin your amazing journey with a full guided tour to visit to the Roluos Temple Complex, the area was once known as Hariharalaya and was the first capital of the Khmer Empire. All that remains of the city today are the ruins of several royal temples: Lolei, Preah Ku and Bakong. Continue to Ta Prohm which is famous for the giant fig tree roots that embrace it. Stroll along to Prasat Kravan, Srah Srang, Banteay Kdei, Thommanon and Chaosay Tevorda temples.

Day 2,  Siem Reap (B/-/-)

There is no better way to explore the largest site of this ancient capital of the Khmer Empire than by bicycle. Hop on your bike and take an easy ride to enter Angkor Thom by the West Gate. Cycle along to the South Gate and begin your mystical journey at Bayon Temple, known for its unique 54 towers sculpted with over 200 enigmatic smiling faces of Avolokitesvara. Continue to Baphuon Temple, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. After lunch visit Angkor Wat, the most famous and best-preserved of all temples in the complex and later Bakheng Temple and enjoy the sunset from Bakheng Hill. Cool down your evening at a bustling local pub. Enjoy cold drinks or shopping at the night market.

Day 3,  Siem Reap (B/-/-)

Travel by road to Kbal Spean, commonly known as the Valley of a Thousand Lingas. It consists of a series of stone-carvings in and around the Stung Kbal Spean River. Enjoy your picnic lunch on site and continue to the temples of Banteay Srei and Banteay Samre, famous for its carvings and rose-colored sandstone walls.

Day 4,  Siem Reap to Phnom Penh  (B/-/-)

Travel by road to Kampong Thom. Stop en-route at an ancient stone bridge in Kampong Kdei. Next stop is at Skuon town for a sampling of sauteed spiders and the travel along the Tonle Sap River, visiting mosques, fishing villages, the silver handicrafts centre at Kompong Luong. Continue to Phnom Oudong to see its beautiful ancient temple and stupas as well as its splendid views. Arrive in Phnom Penh and spend your evening at leisure.



Day 5, Phnom Penh (B/-/-)

Embark on a guided city tour of the capital visiting the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda and then continue to the Independence Monument and National Museum. In the afternoon, visit the Tuol Sleng Prison (Genocide Museum) where the interrogation and extermination of anti-Khmer Rouge elements took place. Continue to visit Choeung Ek Museum (known as the Killing Fields) where the prisoners during Pol Pot’s regime were executed. At dusk walk along the bank of the Mekong to see Phnom Penh by night.

Days 6, Phnom Penh to Chi Phat (B/-/-)

Drive to Andoung Teok and take a local boat on the Preak Piphot River. This journey goes through mangrove forests, dotted with villages and home to much wildlife. Upon arrival at Chi Phat Ecotourism office have a full briefing about the trip in the national park. Enjoy the sunset cruise along the river.

Day 7, Burial Jar Trail Mountain Biking (approx 45 km)  (B/-/-)

After breakfast our experienced cycling guide will set you up with a mountain bike. The trip starts from Mountain Jar-Trail, known for ancient Burial Jars, Wooden Coffins and its splendid views. Make a stop at a hidden waterfall for a refreshing dip and explore its famous bat cave. Then pedal further to the top of Phnom Trangoarl or Bald Mountain, for a perfect sunset panorama. The evening is free to wander around the village and experience rural night life.

Day 8, Chi Phat to Koh Kong  (B/-/-)

Get an early start to set off on a cruise along Preak Piphot River and enjoy the views of the river bank and surrounding countryside. Transfer to a traditional rowing boat and continue upstream with a chance to spot many species of species of birds, monkeys and flying squirrels. Leave Chi Phat in afternoon and transfer to Koh Kong.

Day 9, Koh Kong  (B/-/-)

Take a trip to Mean Chey High School to see the learning environment of Cambodian children and visit Peam Krasaop Wildlife Sanctuary, its magnificent mangroves and numerous alluvial islands. Walk into the mangrove forest and then take a boat trip visit the Bird Preservation Region. Afterwards drive into Korng Kang Forest, visiting a fishing and crabbing village and maybe spotting wildlife such as eagles, monkeys and sometimes even rare Irrawaddy dolphins. Free time in the afternoon until a transfer to the border to cross into Thailand.
