Thanatharee Rice Barge Cruise

Day1 (Wed) – Ayutthaya ( -/-/D )

At 13:30 board the Thanatharee rice barge at Ayutthaya pier (Wat Prasat) and cruise along the Chao Phraya River, passing the splendid Wat Chaiwattanaram. Arrive at Bang Sadej. By bicycle visit this famous temple and the local orphanage where, mainly, hill-tribe children receive an education and vocational training.  Explore the village and meet the local people and see the cottage industries they engage in and then depart to Pamok. Moor at Wat Sawang Arom near Pamok. Dinner on board.

Day2 (Thu) – Ayutthaya ( B/L/D )

In the morning offer food to the monks on their morning alms round. After breakfast visit the lively local market and the village school and then go to see a local family that makes drums. Back onboard the Thanatharee head to the unspoilt Maenam Noi, a small branch of the main Chao Phraya River and have lunch on board. Stop at the village of Wat Kophai and set off by bicycle to explore the villages along the Maenam Noi to see the day-to-day life of the villagers. Rejoin the barge at Wat Taku and carry on along the Maenam Noi to Wat Chang Noi, arriving at approximately 17:00, tie up for the night and enjoy dinner on board.

Day3 (Fri) – Bangkok ( B/L/- )

Time for breakfast and another opportunity to offer food to the monks on their morning alms round, followed by a bicycle ride to explore nearby villages and local plantations.  Cruise back to the main Chao Phraya River and afterwards depart for Pathum Thani with lunch on board. Arrive at lively Pathum Thani market where great varieties of fresh meats, vegetables and other local produce are sold.  Continue to Ko Kred, an island in the middle of the Chao Phraya River and explore the Mon pottery-making village on the island.  Rejoin the barge and cruise to Wat Chalerm Phra Kiat. Disembark and then transfer back to your hotel by about 17.00. End of services.
