Laos Discovery

Itinerary : Embark on a beautiful journey to discover Laos in your own way with this trip that combines perfectly with any holiday in northern Thailand. We take you across the border at Chiang Khong to Houixay and cruise along the magnificent Mekong River. Disembark at the charming city of Luang Prabang and experience Laos’ unique culture and perhaps discover the secrets of Laos cuisine. Finish your journey in the French–inspired capital city of Vientiane.a small town of Vinh Long. This is only the beginning of the holiday of your lifetime!
 
 

Day 1,  Arrive in Chiang Khong/Houixay  (-/-/-)  

Take a long-tail boat crossing from Chiang Khong to Houixay. Meet your guide and embark on a traditional boat for the trip down the Mekong to the town of Pak Beng with some stops en route to visit ethnic tribal villages. Arrive in Pak Beng just in time for a sunset.

Day 2,  Houixay to Luang Prabang  (B/-/-)

Continue your cruise to Luang Prabang and make a stop to visit the mysterious Pak Ou caves containing thousands of Buddha statues. Lunch on board and visit the riverside village of Ban Xang Hai where rice whisky is produced.

Day 3,  Luang Prabang  (B/-/-)

After breakfast, visit Big Brother Mouse, a bookstore where cultural and linguistic exchanges can be experienced. Then visit Wat Xieng Thong with unusual architecture and the National Museum in the former Royal Palace, which displays a collection of fascinating ancient artefacts.  Enjoy your evening on Mount Phousi with a beautiful view of the city at sunset.

Day 4,  Luang Prabang  (B/-/-)

Those who rise early will be privileged to offer food to the monks on the daily morning alm’s round. Then enjoy a free day to explore this charming city at your leisure. Or you try some of our optional half-day tours: ride the magnificent animals at the Elephant Village, discover the secrets of Laos cuisine at a cooking class, or take a traditional basket weaving or batik course.

Day 5,  Luang Prabang to Vientiane  (B/-/-)

Take a morning flight to Vientiane and then enjoy a guided city tour to visit major sights of this French-inspired capital including its oldest temple, Wat Sisaket and Wat Prakeo. Then visit That Luang, a national symbol of Laos, Patouxai and Vientiane's triumphal arch.

Day 6, Vientiane (B/-/-)

After breakfast transfer to either airport or train station for your next destination.
