Elephant Trek
Trekking in Chiang Mai

Itinerary : Trekking in Northern Thailand is always a highlight in anyone’s holiday and when combined with elephant riding and bamboo river rafting you get a really unique experience. This short package offers all of this and more which is just enough to fulfil your adventurous heart. Stay overnight in hill–tribe villages where the traditional way of life is still maintained and people live close to nature.

Day 1 – Bangkok to Chiang Mai ( -/-/- )

Late afternoon transfer to the station for the overnight train to Chiang Mai. 

Day 2 – Chiang Mai ( -/-/- )

A day to explore the city of Chiang Mai. Arrive early morning and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day at leisure with an option to visit some of the greatest temples or one of Thailand’s tallest mountains of Doi Suthep.

Day 3 – Depart for trekking   ( B/L/D )

Your real adventure begins here. From Chiang Mai travel north to Mae Malai local market and continue to Pang Lan Waterfalls to relax and enjoy lunch before continuing to Huay Nam Dang National Park. Start trekking deep into the forest for about two hours to the Karen village of Baan Mae Jok. Take a walk around the village before dinner to witness the way of life of the people and their close links to nature.

Day 4 – Trekking   ( B/L/D )

Trek for about three hours to an elephant camp to start a 90-minute elephant ride to a rafting camp near the Karen village of Bann Pa Khaolam.

Day 5 – Trekking, proceed to Chiang Mai town   ( B/L/- )

Take an exhilarating bamboo raft trip 25 kilometres down Mae Tang river. Stop en route at a small Lahu village and continue to a Shan village for lunch. Return to Chiang Mai and transfer to the hotel.

Day 6 – Chiang Mai ( B/-/- )

Your trip ends after breakfast.

§ Accommodation: shared twin-bedded room with air conditioning and private facilities. While trekking, stays in village huts. Floor mat, sheet, rucksack, water canteen and lifejacket are supplied

§ Meals: Daily breakfast and full board while trekking.

§ Transport:  Air-conditioned/non air-conditioned remote areas, 2nd-class air-conditioned train with sleeping berth from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.

§ Misc: Local English-speaking guides and all activities as specified in the itinerary, including admission fees, with instruction where necessary
